Introduction:

There is one basic body lift kit for the Toyota Tacoma pickups, 1995.5-current, 4WD and 2WD:

• Includes short bed, long bed, Xtra cab, PreRunner, and double cab models (i.e. all Tacoma pickup models)
  • On this page, the following pickup model descriptions apply and should be used for ordering to ensure the proper fitment of the kit as there and many marketing names given to the varios pickup models over the years:
    • A Regular Cab model has a short cab with just two doors.
    • An Xtra Cab model has a longer cab with two full size doors and 2 smaller seats in back.
    • A Double Cab model has the longest cab and 4 doors and full size seats in back.
• 3" lift is available but may require gas tank filler hose extensions, etc.
  • For 2001+, the inner bumper may need to be relocated to clear the outer bumper
• Limitations:
  • On trucks with the 3.4L-V6 engine and Edelbrock headers, you may experience clearance issues at the steering rag joint when the body lift steering spacer is installed.
    • You can check for vertical clearance above the rag joint to the exhaust header, the spacers are approx. the same (3") diamter as the rag joint and a 1" lift spacer is approx. 3/4" tall, 1.5" lift spacer is 1-1/4" tall, 2" lift spacer is approx. 1-3/4" tall and 3" lift spacer is approx. 2-1/2" tall.
    • 1" body lift seems to be the maximum lift in this application, but feel free to measure for yourself.
  • On trucks with 4" or taller ProComp lifts, steering extension beyond 5/8" tall may not clear the steering rack drop bracket.
    • There is of course no problem with no body lift on these trucks as there is no steering extension used for stock height.
    • And to check for steering extension clearance, find the rubber rag joint at the top of the steering rack and see if that part can be raised from 3/4" to 2-1/2" (corresponding to a 1" - 3" body lift) without hitting any lift-associated brackets.
• If running more than 2" of front suspension lift, a front differential drop kit can be installed (note: not part of the body lift).
• Shift Lever (SL) extensions of 2" and 3" length for transmission and transfer case shifter with screw-on knobs, only.
• Specify the year and cab style for the Tacoma, various models require slightly different hardware.
• In the pricing tables below, the "Typical Kits" for each given lift height and vehicle is listed, both in an itemized list at the bottom of each lift height and as bold text in the tabe coumns.
  • The "Typical Kit" contains those parts typically needed to lift a typical vehicle that height, thus the name "Typical Kit".
    • 0" typical kit would also be called a "body lift removal kit"
  • A typical vehicle is one that is somewhat close to stock, that is has the stock engine, stock steering, stock bumpers, etc.
  • Note, things like suspension lifts, larger than stock tires, etc. have little or no impact on a body lift.
    • Afterall, all those things do is to raise the frame higher off the ground. A body lift in turn simply raises the body off the frame. So in a sense the body lift could care less what sort of suspension or tires are sitting below the frame.
    • The only issue in a 4" or taller suspension lift is noted above (see: the ProComp note above).
  • Feel free to add or subtract from the typical kit as your needs dictate;
    • For example if you have a custom front bumper, subtract the Front Bumper (FB) brackets from your kit and adjust the price accordingly.
    • Or if you wish to upgrade to the Heavy Duty hardware, add the HD option to your kit and adjust the price accordingly.

  • Notes:
    • Clicking on the links under the DESCRIPTION column in the tables below take you to a DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM.
    • If an item price is listed under a given height but not highlighted as part of the typical kit, that means it is not typically ordered as part of the typical kit, but can be installed if desired. Consult the installation notes for that item to see what other options are available in lieu of installing that particular item.
    • If an item is listed as "n/a" under a given lift height, it is "not applicable" or "not available" at that given height.

• The body lift kits consist of the following items:
  • Body lift blocks:
    • Ultimate blocks in UHMW polyethylene:
      • 2 - 2" and 4 - 2.5" OD blocks for the cab
      • 6 - 2" OD blocks for the bed
    • Natural color is white, may be custom colored in black with the CLR option
    • Also available in cab-only and standard size (all 2" OD) blocks.
    • For lifts between the heights listed below, use the next higher kit price, e.g. for a 1.5" lift, use the 2" pricing
  • Hardware is available in several options.
    • Standard grade (Grade 5) hardware is included in kits C or D, includes longer bolts for each body mount location
    • Hardware may be upgraded to Heavy Duty (Grade 8) by ordering the HD option
  • Optional Front Bumper brackets to raise the stock front bumper to match the lift
  • Optional Radiator drop brackets to lower the radiator to align with the stock radiator fan
  • Steering shaft extensions bolt-on to extend the steering shaft to match the lift (SE)
  • Optional Bed Spacers can be used to support the center of the cargo bed over the rear wheels, if needed
  • Optional Shift lever extensions that screw onto the shift lever to extend it 2" or 3" to match the lift
  • Optional Polyurethane body mount bushings replace the stock rubber bushings, if needed.
    • 1995.5-2000 model years for regular and extra cabs and 2001-2004 double cabs only

2005-20xx Tacoma Pickup (US $):

Below is body lift kit information for the later model Tacoma pickups. Lift kit uses 12 lift blocks in total, in the ultimate kit, 8 of those blocks are the larger 2.5" diameter size, the remainder are 2" (standard kit is all 2" diameter blocks).

Notes:

• n/a = Not (currently) available for a given height
• (*) The C1 and D1 kits will include 2 - 3/8"and 4 - 1/2" bolts and nuts for the cab
  • We have reports that the 6 factory bed bolts are long enough to accomodate a 1" body (bed) lift, so need not be replaced at that lift height and thus hardware for the bed is not included in this 1" body lift hardware kit.
  • You may need to re-use one pair of the stock cab mount bolts for the rear bed bolts as sometimes two of the stock bed bolts are a bit short for a 1" lift.
• (**) The C2 and D2 kits will include 2 - 3/8"and 4 - 1/2" bolts and nuts for the cab as well as 2 longer metric bolts for the rear 2 bed bolts which may be too short in the 1" lift.
  • The other 4 factory bed bolts are typcially long to accomodate a 1" body (bed) lift, so need not be replaced at that lift height and thus hardware for the bed is not included in this 1" body lift hardware kit.
• (***) The C3 and D3 kits will include 2 - 3/8"and 4 - 1/2" bolts and nuts for the cab as well as 6 longer metric bolts for the bed.
• (****) For the Steering Extension (SE), make sure you have a bolted rag joint with flanges in the steering column under the dash.
  • Some models have a riveted rag joint and if you have that style, you would need to drill out those rivets before installing the SE.
  • Other models have no flanged connections and the rag joint steering extension (SE) will not work with those models.
  • Standard steering extension not sized for lifts of 2" and higher, custom extensions may be possible or the steering shaft can be cut and sleeved with tubing to extend it.
• What is listed in the above table is what is currently available, if it is not listed above, it is NOT AVAILABLE at the present time, but if you can supply the dimensions of the part needed, we can see if a design can be done.
