Well im a lucky 17 year old with a nice 86 toyota 4runner...i love
my car the only real complaint I have is the lack of power on the
hills...but other than that its awesome. I havent really done anything
to it i got rancho rs 5000's on it and some meaty tires , a roof rack ,
and a loud stereo. I was actually hopeing someone would know where i
could get one of those really cool bumpers that look like they came
from a 90 toyota pickup...the crome ones with the dip in the
middle...if anyone knows where i could find one i would really
appreciate them telling me thanks again and LOVE THOSE 4RUNNERS!

in the mud holes. In case you are wondering it is a 4 banger. i would

I bought an '86 4Runner some months ago and have not seen a better
one yet! I love mine. It has new white paint, new interior, new engine
(22re, 4cyl, 5-spd), new trans, 2" body lift, ( getting ready to
install a 3-4" suspension lift. Not sure which one though),new
bullet hole wheels, new 33" tires, tubualar bumpers, side steps, a
winch that can be put in the front or back, also many, many new parts,
and to top it off a nice sound system. I have looked at different soft
tops, but cannot find the right one for me. Can you help me out on my
decision? I have heard of bikini tops for 4runners. Is this true, and
where can I get one? One more thing, What are some good accessories or
web paged accessories for 4Runners? Hope to hear from you soon. -Bill

i have an 87 4Runner. It's a 4cyl,4by4,EFI,SR5,2dr,tow pkg, offroad
pkg. It goes just about everywhere, but to make sure it does go
everywhere, i will be puting an ARB bullbar with KCs and a winch, a
pipe bumber in the back, some mud terrain tires, and a soft top. If you
have advice for me or need advice from me please don't hesitate to
e-mail me. For all you toyota offroad fanatics, here is a great story.
A friend of mine (Scott Gladden) bought a new 4runner in 85 and took it
to the sea of Cortez. He was offroading in some cliffs when he decided
to go down onto the sand since it would be faster. A wave came in and
softened the sand, and it sucked his wheels in. There he was stuck in
the sand with the tide coming in. His only choice was to ductape his
air filter water tight with a trashbag and ducktape, and ducktape a
tennisball in a trashbag over his exhost pipe. He did this and then
tied a ball to the bumper and watched the tide compleatly cover his
truck. The next morning, he went out and dug his truck which had sand
up to the middle of the doors. He used trashbags and shells for
traction at the bottom of his roughly 4 feet deep hole that his truck
was in. He took off the ducktape, got in his truck (which with the new
seels and the sand covering the ac vents was compleatly dry) and turned
it right over. He then proceeded to climb it out of the hole under it's
own power...with nothing wrong with it. His radio even worked. He drove
that same truck for 10 years or so after that. GO TOYOTA!

Howdy all! I have a 87 4runner 2.2r sr5 with 290,000mi which I got
from my parents about a year ago (after my mom wrecked my ford ranger
{yippeee!!!!)). I also have a 2000 tacoma prerunner which I just
purchased. Point of all of this is I need to sell the 4runner. It has
been owned since new by our family and has been meticulously
maintained. The most major repair was a replaced clutch about 6 years
ago. Most of the miles were tallied in eastern north carolina on rural
highways. Body is great, never been in an accident, no rust, engine
LOVES straight 30 wt oil and runs like a dream. I wish I could keep her
but I'm young and don't have the money for two cars. If anyone is
interested in giving her a good home please email me. All queries will
be returned promptly. Thanks p.s. Love the page!

Love my 88'4runner-sr5v6/auto. Problem is to damn reliable, might
last for another 100000miles. I may have to use it for a coffin. But, I
am getting sick of the ride. Any suggestions on MILD suspension upgrade

rock hopping. Also how about seats, I am getting to fat,old for
originals . They remain in great shape but would love something that
did not totally get me knotted and creaky (6" tall) on a long

excellant and well done. Maybe next year some soft engine mods if I can
