ERROR CODE EXPLANATIONS FOR IV_DIAG:

The following table lists the possible error codes with explanations and suggested remedies for these errors. The remedies should be implemented in the order that they are listed and the boardset should be re-tested after each remedy is implemented. That it to say, if you get error codes 3,4,5, resolve the problem causing the code 3 first, as subsequent test failures may be caused by earlier failures.

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix the problem, re-check seating of large cable connecting the GE and RV boards.
  2. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
  3. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in one of the Data RAM parts (locations U26, U27, U28, U29) associated with the data lines on the GE board.
9

Hardware failure detected in microcode Microcode RAM Uniqueness test (URAMA)

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix the problem, re-check seating of large cable connecting the GE and RV boards.
  2. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
  3. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in one of the Microcode RAM parts (locations U36, U38, U40, U42, U44) associated with the address lines on the GE board.
10

Hardware failure detected in microcode Microcode RAM Integrity test (URAMD)

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix the problem, re-check seating of large cable connecting the GE and RV boards.
  2. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
  3. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in one of the Microcode RAM parts (locations U36, U38, U40, U42, U44) associated with the data lines on the GE board.
11

Hardware failure detected in FIFO test (FIFO)

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
  2. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in one of the FIFO parts (locations U47, U48, U49, U50, U51) on the GE board.
12

Microcode based Data RAM test failed (DRAMD2)

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix the problem, re-check seating of large cable connecting the GE and RV boards.
  2. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
  3. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in one of the Data and/or Microcode RAM parts and/or HQ1 chip on the GE board.
13

Hardware failure detected in CPU to Data RAM DMA test (DMA1-AT writes)

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix the problem, re-check seating of large cable connecting the GE and RV boards.
  2. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
  3. Check the revision level of the GE board. It should be Rev. A-C or later.
  4. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in either the AT interface or the HQ1 chip. The HQ1 chip performs the actual DMA function on the GE bus. The AT interface uses the x86 STRINIO command to transfer blocks of data from host CPU memory to the GE bus (ISA-only).
14

Hardware failure detected in Data RAM to CPU DMA test (DMA2 - AT reads)

  4. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in the AT interface due to excessive noise in the AT system. This is a combination of the number of add-in cards in the AT system, the power supply voltage, and the ability of the power supply to supply instantaneous current peaks upon demand. The system power supply should be rated at 5V-25A when a full complement of add-in boards are present in the AT system. There could also be a failure in the HQ1 chip if both error 13 and error 14 occurred.
15

Hardware failure detected in Host to Bitplanes DMA test (REDMA)

  4. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in one or more of the Bitplane VRAMs on the RV, DE, or EV boards.
16

Hardware failure detected in FIFO/Data RAM read test

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
  2. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in running Microcode for the FIFO test. This could be a sign of failure of the HQ1 in reading the FIFO.
17

Hardware failure detected in Finish Flags test (FINFLGS)

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
  2. If these remedies do not fix this error, there is a failure in either the HQ1 chip (U25) or the GRFX chip (U67) on the GE board.
18

Hardware failure detected in XMAP test (XMAP)

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
19

Hardware failure detected in DAC test (DAC)

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, the RV board has a bad DAC (on the DE board) or DACs (on the EV board).
20

Failure in Raster Engine test (RE)

  1. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix the problem, re-check seating of large cable connecting the GE and RV boards.
  2. If remedies for error code 4 do not fix this error, check the pins of the large connectors on the GE and RV boards, make sure they are not bent or broken.
  3. If these remedies do not fix this error code, there is a failure in the Raster Engine (RE) chip at location U10 on the RV board.
